Educating the Drinker on the Dangers of Drunk Driving Essay

Educating the Drinker on the Dangers of Drunk Driving Alcohol is a drug, a very popular drug. Alcohol has been around for a long time, and people have always enjoyed its effects. Many people have passions for alcohol, some people have refrigerators filled with beer, and many others are wine connoisseurs. Alcohol always seems to liven up the party. But no matter what your preference is, alcohol can be very dangerous when combined with the operation of an automobile. If you can remember only a few things from this paper remember this: driving drunk is unsafe to you, and everyone else around you. Second, keep your distance from anyone that may appear to be under the influence. Anyone who is swerving, crossing the lines or going too slow are good examples. But it is impossible to prevent all of these accidents, people have to be educated about drinking and driving. So how much alcohol is safe? No amount of alcohol in your body is as safe as having none. But certain amounts of alcohol are safer than others. There is no set limit of how much is too much, because there are too many factors in drinking. Body weight, amount of drinks, and how fast you drink are all factors in how alcohol affects you. Even the amount of food in your stomach can be a factor in how fast the alcohol gets into your blood stream. You cannot always tell by looking at someone if theyve had too much to drink. Some people can conceal their alcohol very well, others cannot. The only real way to measure the amount of alcohol in your body is with a Breathalyzer. A Breathalyzer measures your BAC; blood alcohol concentration. Your BAC is how much of your blood is alcohol. You must be 21 in the U.S. to drink, but the BAC limit is .10%. If you are over .10% you are considered legally dr unk, and will be charged with DUI if you are caught. At slightly above .05% your risk of causing an accident is double what it would be at 0%. Building Maintenance Processes and Practices MyAssignmenthelp - com

Question: Discuss about the Building Maintenance Processes and Practices. Answer: Introduction The owner of a hospitality property is constantly looking for renovating or refurbishing its current structure and designing something better that would engage the attention of the customers (Tsai Dev and Chintagunta 2015). The physical renovation or restructuring of the hotel interiors are important for giving special ambience to the customers, which would let them to come back to this place time and again (Do?an et al. 2013). The renovation can take place due to multiple reasons such as satisfying the design needs, building needs, economic viability and others. It is important to adopt environment sustainable practices which are being implemented in the project (Tsai Dev and Chintagunta 2015). The financial value of the renovation and the different return of the development should be carefully analyzed. The renovation project needs to undertake an optimum approach that would satisfy the needs of all the involved stakeholders. This report would identify the renovation measures of the Santoor Restaurant located in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The various considerations would be assessed by keeping in mind the principles of asset management. The current use of the restaurant site would be discussed along with the proposal for site upgradation. The analysis of the target market would be done by comparing the target market theory with the expectations of the customers visiting Santoor restaurants. The renovation concept would be discussed along with the different risks associated with the renovation. Brief history of Santoor Restaurant Dhaka The Santoor Restaurant is one of the most popular Indian food restaurant operating in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The restaurant has high number of customer visits on a regular basis as it has a good market position in Dhaka. It serves different kinds of foods including Indian foods, Asian foods, Halal foods and different kinds of vegetarian food. The restaurant also serves good quality of seafood (Wilson et al. 2016). The visitors review on the different travel website such as TripAdvisor shows that the restaurant has both positive as well as negative attributes, which has drawn a mix reaction from the customers (TripAdvisor.com 2017). In spite of the good food served in this restaurant, there are certain complaints of customers regarding the internal atmosphere. In TripAdvisor, the customers have expressed their concerns for the ambience of the restaurant including dirty linens, impolite attitude of the waiters, poor service, bad tastes of some food items, interior decorations and the arran gement of the internal assets of the restaurant (TripAdvisor.com 2017). The Santoor Restaurant has the most basic layout in terms of both external and internal structure. The external layout of the restaurant suggests a shadowy building with red brick structure (Bangladeshifood2.blogspot.in 2017). The external structure has neon signs that are quite attractive. The entrance for the restaurant has wooden doors which are considered as the one of the important points of customer entry. The interiors of the restaurant are characterized by black color furniture with ebony window panes and there are pieces of marble that adorn the above ceiling (Bangladeshifood2.blogspot.in 2017). The restaurant has chic interiors, however, there is lack of proper arrangement of the tables. They are haphazard with no fixed layout. The restaurant has small waiting area for persons who cannot be accommodated in the main area. This area is not a separate entity and is merged with the main dining hall. They do not have any menu cards for the customers who are waiting for in the waiting area. The restaurant does not have a separate bar and the facility aims to create one in the near future (Bangladeshifood2.blogspot.in 2017). The restaurant kitchen is relatively small and is not adequate for the various types of cuisines served. The kitchen does not have a preparation area due to the lack of space in the restaurant layout (Bangladeshifood2.blogspot.in 2017). Justification of need of refurbishment The current site use of the Santoor Restaurant is a mixture of good and bad characteristics. It is true that the internal environment is chic however, the current sitting arrangement looks quite clumsy and hence renovation is important. If the interior lacks aesthetic appeal then there would be less number of customers. In Dhaka, there are many restaurants that provide good interiors and hence it is important to survive the competition by giving thee customers a good ambience. It is also important to create separate waiting area since no customer enjoying their food wants to see impatient faces queuing up for tables. There is chaos in the waiting area and hence this place should be a separate one. The kitchen is considered as the heart of the restaurant and hence it is important to build a relatively big one, which would meet the food requirements of the customers. There is a need to give the restaurant a five star look so that more number of customers are attracted to it. This would be due to the fact that there would be increase in the value added services to the customers. The current use of the Santoor Restaurant site shows that there are certain design issues with the restaurants which lower the customer satisfaction. It is important that the restaurant property goes through refurbishment in order to gain competitive advantage. The entrance needs to be more decorated so that the customers are happy to enter the restaurant. It is important that the waiting area of the restaurant should be an individual one and it should be made in a separate corner of the restaurant. There should be menu cards provided in the waiting area also. The dining room is important for the restaurant and a linear arrangement of the tables should be made for a more aesthetic look. It is necessary to incorporate a separate area for the bar services of the restaurant so that there are increased customers in the restaurant property. The kitchen area needs to be expanded and there should be separate segregations inside the kitchen for better preparation of the foods. The whole pattern of the restaurant would need to changed so that a five-star view can be given to it. It would give a trendy look to the restaurant. There would be open kitchen with different celebrity chefs of the world. There would be strong clear glass wall in the kitchen so that the cooking bad odors does not bother the customer. Also, the customer would be able to view the cooking process and the preparation of their favorite item. There would be the construction of a juice bar at the terrace of the restaurant which would serve various kinds of juices (such as organic juices, tropical juices). The proposed design is a feasible one and there is no need of expansion of the restaurant property. It is only required that the internal layout be changed so that all the necessary changes can be made. The dining hall space should be modified in order to accommodate two additional corners containing the bars and the waiting area. This would be adjusted automatically if the dining hall has a linear arrangement of the tables and the chairs, which would imply space saving layout. Current economic environment The economy of Bangladesh is considered as the 41st largest in the world and it is considered as the second largest economy in the world (Brunn et al. 2016). There is a GDP growth of 6.5% and the country has large amount of exports in sectors such as domestic agricultural sector, remittances and the readymade garments (Brunn et al. 2016). The country has high per capita income which implies that the residents of the country would be able to spend at the local restaurants (Brunn et al. 2016). Tourism has major contribution to the GDP of the country. The local economy would be benefitted from the improved business value. There would be an increase in the employment services as the local unemployed youths possessing suitable qualifications can be recruited. According to the target market theory, the segmentation is a process through which the target market is broken down into smaller market segments so that it becomes easier for the companies to cater to them (Firat OzaltinTurker and Metin 2014). The segmentation can be based upon the geographic, demographic, behavioral and the psychographic characteristics (Firat OzaltinTurker and Metin 2014). The expectation of customers visiting Santoor Restaurants is that they get quality food and good interiors. They expect to have proper arrangement of the internal facility of the restaurant. An increasingly number of customers have shown interest on the bars and they prefer a separate area for drinks and beverages. The target market would comprise of the young generation, teenagers and the professionals who love to have interesting food in a unique ambience. The upper middle class and the affluent class would be the primary target market of this restaurant. Competitor Benchmark The competitors of Santoor Restaurant give excellent food to the customers along with wonderful ambience. Le Meridian Restaurant, Flambe Restaurant, The Mirage and others offer breathtaking interiors with beautiful decorations that capture the attention of the customers (Alam et al. 2016). This has led to the setting up of benchmark, which implies that the Santoor Restaurant needs to be at par with their standards (Firat OzaltinTurker and Metin 2014). It is important to provide the benchmark set by the competitors so that the restaurant can continue getting more customers. The competitors such as Le Meridian Restaurant, Flambe Restaurant and The Mirage also have the five star look and they provide unique services to the customers. Their structure is similar to the proposed structure and hence they are the competitors. The new restaurant design should try to take into account the effect it would have on the external environment (Guerrero Maas and Hogland 2013). It should be careful about the disposal of wastes and the subsequent treatment of the wastes during the renovation process (Guerrero Maas and Hogland 2013). There are some major aspects of sustainability which is concerned with the four main items namely plastics/paper, food, water and energy (Okonkwo 2013). It is also important to use right mode of cooking (emphasis on green fuel) so that it has minimal amount of air pollution (Guerrero Maas and Hogland 2013). The restaurant should also strive to use the right kind of refrigeration which would conserve energy. The sustainability of the renovation process would be achieved by implementing sustainable material selection, sustainable design and construction process. Santoor Restaurant should take into account the financial implications when engaging in renovation (Okonkwo 2013). The restaurant should aim for 10%-15% increase in the ROI of the firm. ROI is dependent on the kind of restaurant and the service style of the restaurant (Okonkwo 2013). The cost of remodeling of the restaurant would be around $35,000 in the current year. The NPV value of the renovation shows that there would be positive value of the current assets. The payback period of this hospitality property would be 5 years; however, if there are negative economic trends such as recession, then it may take longer time (Okonkwo 2013). The payback period can be calculated by dividing the cost of the investments with the annual net cash flow. Cost headings Estimated Cost (in $) Renovation startup cost 3,000 Purchase of new furniture 4,000 Purchase of new floor and rooftop 5,000 Purchase of new type of kitchen module 12,000 Raw materials cost 9,000 Cost of human resource 2000 Total 35,000 Renovation Concept The renovation is considered as the process of the improvement of the outdated or broken structure of the buildings (Smith Jaggar and Love 2016). It is also referred to as something new which can improve the business prospects of the buildings. It can range from various processes such as planning, engineering, structural repair, rebuilding and the various kind of finishes applied to the buildings or the service delivery points (Olanrewaju and Abdul-Aziz 2015). This renovation concept is closely related with the renovation of asset (Smith Jaggar and Love 2016). The asset management is considered as the management of the financial as well as non-financial properties so that there is an improvement in the overall returns (Love et al. 2014). The renovation would be required in the areas of the dining room, waiting area, entrance area and the kitchen of the restaurant. The stakeholders of the renovation project of the Santoor Restaurant include the project managers, sponsors, owners, managers, employees, suppliers, creditors, local government, local residents, media and the competitors (Kraak and Story 2015). There are several risks associated with the renovation process such as health hazards, lack of funds, lack of manpower and others (Van Os et al. 2015). There can be health hazards such as negative health effects of asbestos, lead materials, moldy wall interiors and fumes from the adhesives, coatings and the paints, which is harmful for the different stakeholders (Van Os et al. 2015). Conclusion The hospitality industry is one of the most lucrative industries that face stiff competition in the market. It is important to renovate the existing structure of the restaurants so that they can gain competitive edge. This report is based on the Santoor Restaurants and the need of its renovation. The brief history of the restaurant is being discussed and the current use of the site is being described. The justification for the need of the refurbishment of the current property is defined. The analysis shows that the main areas of the restaurant in which the renovation is needed are the dining room, waiting area, kitchen and the entrance in which it is important to present good tastes to the customers. It is important to present good aesthetic value to the consumers and hence the proposal for site up gradation is given. The feasibility of the design is analyzed along with the current economic environment. The analysis of the target market is done and the competitor benchmark is defined . The implementation of the sustainability implications along with financial implications is discussed. The renovation concept is defined along with the identification of the stakeholders. The risks of the renovation process are also defined. This report would broaden the understanding of the renovation concept. References Alam, N., Jamal, R., Alam, S.S. and Moniruzzaman, M., 2016. Implementing the new action plan may be tough but, when all parties take control and act together the workings could create great results. Many deferent types of programs may work In diverse areas of the United States that promote community communities face the same crime entirely. Some communities are affected by gang activity as other communities in the country are adversely affected by drug activity. Personally, I believe in two effective types of policing and that is community policing and problem-solving policing. The community is the only one who knows what their neighborhoods are being affected by because they live in the area and possibly see many different criminal acts taking place at all times. In contrast, I believe that the ultimate most productive and effective type of policing is problem-solving policing. (Peak, 2010) Police departments and other agencies usually assess many issues involving crime but I believe that the integration of police, the community and other agencies is the best route to take when fighting crime. With having all of these relationships I feel that together this type of policing is more effective when all entities take notice of problems within the community and create a plan for corrective action. With these parties working together they can implement new innovative ways of combating crime and catching these few groups in the act as well as place them where they need to be. In conclusion, local communities, towns, cities, states and the federal government have all tried to ban together to combat crime and promote awareness to all age groups. In order to fight crime and become effective police departments across America need the community and its citizens as a whole to get involved and work together to make their streets safer. Many different programs have been created and directed to help create safer environments for all citizens as well as create a better way of life. Community policing, problem-solving policing and the assistance from the federal government may all be what the country needs to create safer boundaries for our children and other age groups. The federal government has immensely been a major assistant to the production and implementation of stronger relationships in this genre.

The Color Purple The Struggle To Express Themselves Essay Example For Students

The Color Purple The Struggle To Express Themselves Essay There is one primordial reason why we do not doubt Europeans have taken the lead in history, in all epochs before and after 1492, and it has little to do with evidence. It is a basic belief which we inherit from prior ages of thought and scarcely realize that we hold: it is an implicit belief, not an explicit one, and it is so large a theory that it is woven into all of our ideas about history, both within Europe and without. . . (Blaut pg. 6-7). African-American people have had to climb over many obstacles to get to their position today. First, was the selling of their people into slavery. Then, they endured slavery itself, being treated like an animal. After slavery was abolished, Colored people still had to deal with racial discrimination and hatred. If this sounds rough, black women had it worse. African-American women had to deal with all the previously mentioned things, but they were women too! Females were oppressed almost as bad as the blacks. White women were not able to vote until the 1920. Therefore colored women had a double edged sword, they had to fight for freedom, but not be to dominate as to effect the men. Alice Walkers The Color Purple is a good example of colored womens plight. Three obstacles black women had to overcome to be able to express themselves were Racism, the lack of education, and the stereo-type that women are inferior. We will write a custom essay on The Color Purple The Struggle To Express Themselves specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now African-Americans have always experienced racism throughout their habitation in America. Slavery, is what caused most of the hatred towards blacks. African Americans were sold by their people and sent off to a foreign land. Colored people were used as work horses when they entered America. It was acceptable for a white person to be lazy (in the South), and therefore, a white person takes advantage of this (Theriault). White people wanted to keep their laziness. If the slaves were set free, then the whites would have to do more work. The slaves still fought for what they wanted, and finally won their independence. Another dilemma was if the south could abolish slavery, what would happen to the slaves? These slaves have been slaves for all their lives and would require education. These slaves would also require homes, some type of compensation, and more (Theriault). Blacks were put in prison for rebelling against the white establishment. Most times these crimes were minuscule in compar ison to the crimes committed against blacks or by whites. A colored person could be put in jail for looking at someone inappropriately, but if a black man was lynched, nothing happened. I have been locked by the lawless. Handcuffed by the haters. Gagged by the greedy. And, if I know any thing at all, its that a wall is just a wall and nothing more at all. It can be broken down (Shakuer). This excerpt from Affirmation is an example of the feelings of hatred for the Whites. However, this quotation also shows the fight in the African-American race let alone its women. If the South could have kept education away from the blacks. Then ides as the one above would have never been published. Lack of education was a way the South tried to keep the blacks in a lower class. In The Color Purple, Celie is not allowed to go to school because she is to be kept barefoot and pregnant. She still received an education by learning what her little sister was teaching her, though. It was believed that if the blacks were kept uneducated then they would not know any better and would not fight for freedom. Unfortunately, for the South, the North was educating their blacks. Then these blacks were coming south and starting colleges for colored people. Booker T. Washington wrote, in his autobiography,ONE day, while at work in the coal-mine, I happened to overhear two miners talking about a great school for coloured people somewhere in Virginia. This was the first time that I had ever heard anything about any kind of school or college that was more pretentious than the little coloured school in our town. In the darkness of the mine I noiselessly crept as close as I could to the two men who w ere talking. I heard one tell the other that not only was the school established for the members of any race, but the opportunities that it provided by which poor but worthy students could work out all or a part of the cost of a board, and at the same time be taught some trade or industry. .ue4221cc9e8d09b5dfeebf29c24acf221 , .ue4221cc9e8d09b5dfeebf29c24acf221 .postImageUrl , .ue4221cc9e8d09b5dfeebf29c24acf221 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .ue4221cc9e8d09b5dfeebf29c24acf221 , .ue4221cc9e8d09b5dfeebf29c24acf221:hover , .ue4221cc9e8d09b5dfeebf29c24acf221:visited , .ue4221cc9e8d09b5dfeebf29c24acf221:active { border:0!important; } .ue4221cc9e8d09b5dfeebf29c24acf221 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .ue4221cc9e8d09b5dfeebf29c24acf221 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .ue4221cc9e8d09b5dfeebf29c24acf221:active , .ue4221cc9e8d09b5dfeebf29c24acf221:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .ue4221cc9e8d09b5dfeebf29c24acf221 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .ue4221cc9e8d09b5dfeebf29c24acf221 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .ue4221cc9e8d09b5dfeebf29c24acf221 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .ue4221cc9e8d09b5dfeebf29c24acf221 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .ue4221cc9e8d09b5dfeebf29c24acf221:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .ue4221cc9e8d09b5dfeebf29c24acf221 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .ue4221cc9e8d09b5dfeebf29c24acf221 .ue4221cc9e8d09b5dfeebf29c24acf221-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .ue4221cc9e8d09b5dfeebf29c24acf221:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Koran and Women1 EssayThus the education had begun. Most coloreds were not able to read or write because they were never exposed to an education. Black women again had it worse because they were women. Women were believed to be weak and incompetent in comparison with men. This has since been disproved, but it was the practice in those days. In The Color Purple, Harpo, Mr. marries an independent Black woman. Sophia is bigger than Harpo and does not really do what he says. When Harpo beats Sophia to make her mind, she beats him. The idea that a man has to beat a woman follows right along with the stereo-type that women are inferior. The hackneyed image that women were inferior was basically just a myth. The black women in the book The Color Purple did all the work. Celie would get up to cook, clean, go out and work in the fields all day, then come back and cook and clean some more. Sophia would work in the fields, repair the roof, and take care of the children. The men, Mr. and Harpo, would sit and not do much. Then if the women ever said anything they would beat them. It was not until Shug Avery came along did Celie realize not to take men seriously. Ms. Avery and Celie did become lesbians, but Shug taught Celie that a person has to stand up for themselves, if they want respect. As Celie and Shug fell in love, Celie grew as a person. She started to stand up to Mr. Celie also started to wear pants. In doing so, she was showing her independence. In those days, men were only supposed to be clothed in pants. Celie was showing, in a small way, that a woman can do anything a man can. Through help from Shug, Celie sta rted a successful business making pants for all the relatives. This is another way Shug helped Celie gain her independence. Women were supposed to rely on men for everything (i.e. food, clothing, shelter, etc.). With Celie making her own money she did not need a man. Celie and her sister Nettie also owned a house, which was left to them by their step-father. Celie is further independent from men. Celie found a way out by acquiring a plan. This plan was patterned after an already independent woman, Shug. Shug got out by singing, Nettie by being a missionary, and Celie by making pants. Any minority that is being oppressed can learn from The Color Purple. A minority can pattern his/her assent to greatness after someone who came from similar backgrounds. All minorities can take this advice to heart. Stand up for what is believed. Make a difference. African-American women have overcome quite a bit in order to get to be where they are today. Colored women have(and are still) over coming racism, lack of education, and the myth that women are inferior. Black women have taken care of their children, men, land and themselves for years. The book The Color Purple shows the previous point very well. This book teaches that if there is a struggle, someone will overcome it. The book also teaches minorities a way to get out of their present situation. First, the desire has to be there, then all the minority has to do is pattern themselves after someone else who has made it out of the ghetto. Even though this book is in the great depression , the lessons it teaches can still be applied in todays society. I think it is finally time black women earn the respect they deserve. I would like to thank Alice Walker for writing a book that has opened my eyes to the struggles of African-American women. I never knew that they had to over come so much i n their community let alone the rest of the world.

Structure of the Healthcare Industry Essay Example

Structure of the Healthcare Industry Essay Example Structure of the Healthcare Industry Paper Structure of the Healthcare Industry Paper Health care is one of the fastest growing section of the economy, and differs from other services in various ways (Danzon, 1992). The output of a bakery is bread but the output of the health care industry is less detailed or defined. The health care industry is changeable and unpredictable, making it less understood by both producers/suppliers and consumers (Danzon, 1992). However, the health care industry still operates within the basic rules of economics, and economical analysis is required in assessing public policy (Danzon, 1992).   The end product of medical care is, of course, health. Probabilities on health can only be applied and quantified before care is actually provided (Danzon, 1992). The risk and threat of illness usually leads people to require health insurance. In the U.S., the market for health insurance is influenced by the fact that employer contributions are an integral part of employee compensation which is tax-exempt (Danzon, 1992). Thus, third party payment affects the basic structure of the health care industry (Danzon, 1992). Because insurance companies pay for a large percentage of medical care, a consumer’s â€Å"point-of-purchase† price has to be less. If a physician charges $20 and the insurance company pays for 80% for the charge, then the consumer’s price is on $4 . Like any other market, the quantity demanded goes up when price goes down. It is hard to measure quality of service based on the effect of insurance (Danzon). The presence of a particular government is heavily felt in the health care industry. In the U.S., the largest health insurer is Medicare or Medicaid (Danzon, 1992). Increase in Health Care Costs Health care costs have rapidly increased in recent years, mainly because of fast trends in medical technology (Danzon, 1992). Nevertheless, an effective resource allocation ensures that the medical benefits exceed marginal costs (Danzon, 1992). Hospitals play a major role in the health care industry (Danzon, 1992). Medicare implemented a â€Å"prospective payment system† in 1983, under which hospitals are paid a fixed charge per admission, basing on the diagnosis of a patient. This way, the hospital shoulders the partial cost of all expenses incurred by the patient. Physicians also play a major role in the health care industry (Danzon, 1992). The actual number of doctors who are active in providing care for patients have more than doubled (Danzon, 1992). This increase may be attributed to medical schools’ responses to federal subsidies created to multiply the supply of doctors after the entrance of Medicare and Medicaid (Danzon, 1992). In most markets, increases in supply would result in lower prices, and thus, a higher quantity. However, many doctors have relocated to rural areas that were otherwise unserved. There is a persistent connection between number of doctors per capita, and the prevalence of home-visits and surgical procedures. Another influence in the Health care industry is pharmaceutical trends. U.S. prescription of drugs grew by 16.9% in 2001 compare to 2000, making the pharma industry a $172 billion industry (Boyle, 2002).

The Relationship between the Consumers Need for Uniqueness and Essay

The Relationship between the Consumers Need for Uniqueness and Purchase Perception of Fast Fashion Co-Brands - Essay Example The paper tells that co-branding in fashion is the pairing of two of more branded products forming a separate and unique product. It facilitates parent brands to access to a broader consumer base as well as to form a new relationship with the clients. Fast fashion co-brands serve as a constructed idea and lifestyle which the consumers not only desire but also identify. People with a high need for uniqueness fell comfortable when they are different from others, as a result, engage mostly in changes towards dissimilarity related to others. They either counter to conform to creative choices, avoid similarity or like the unpopular. This is dependent upon consumers’ subjective judgment, quality and consumers need for the uniqueness of a product or service. Hypothesis developed to explain purchase perception include hypothesis 2; consumers having a higher need for uniqueness in fast fashion have higher favourable purchase perception of fast fashion co-brand, hypothesis 3; consumers having higher need for uniqueness on designer fashion brand have higher favourable purchase perception of fast fashion co-brands, hypothesis 4; consumers having higher need for uniqueness on fast fashion co-brand have higher favourable purchase perception of fast fashion co-brand. Empirical research methodology in form of survey questionnaires was used. A pilot survey was carried out to ensure that the survey questions and research instruments operate well. The authors also employed convenient sampling approach using a random survey procedure, week through. Need for the luxury design was higher than the need for uniqueness in fast fashion brands. Need for fast fashion came in between. Respondents’ need for uniqueness in first fashion co-brands had the largest impact on their purchase perception on fast fashion co-brands, followed by fast fashion brands and lastly, the need for uniqueness in luxury designer brands. Since fast fashion brands are easily and affordably possessed and are of comparatively low quality, consumers might feel they are less unique. Luxury designer fashion brands scored highest.
